GLORIAD Application in Russia

Atmospheric Science

Investigation of Distributed Enviromental Archives System (IDEAS) (Project in progress) (Atmospheric Science)

The Investigation of Distributed Environmental Archives System (IDEAS) project, initially named Environmental Scenario Generator (ESG), began in support of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Modeling and Simulation (M&S) office. The DoD M&S Master Plan states that the next generation of M&S programs will require the inclusion of an integrated authoritative representation of the natural environment. Here the natural environment includes elements from multiple domains such as space, oceans, terrestrial weather and terrain. The capability exists today to model a highly realistic environment on a wide range of scales. Systems such as the Master Environmental Library (MEL), NVDS and others provide the ability to search for the environmental data sets distributed across the network, but the ability to search for specific “scenarios” (sets of conditions within the archived data) does not exist. Satellite Archive Browse and Retrieval (SABR)(Project in progress) (Atmospheric Science)

Satellite Archive Browse and Retrieval (SABR) system is designed to provide a unified web access to satellite data sources and products at National Geophysical Data Center NOAA in Boulder, CO. (Project in progress) (Atmospheric Science)

Space Physics Interactive Data Resource (SPIDR) (Project in progress) (Atmospheric Science)

The Space Physics Interactive Data Resource (SPIDR) is a distributed network of synchronous databases and application servers designed to allow a space weather modeling and prediction customer or application to intelligently access and manage historical space physics data for integration with virtual environment models and real-time space weather forecasts.. Space Physics Interactive Data Resource (SPIDR) (Project in progress) (Atmospheric Science)

THORpex (Project in progress)(Atmospheric Science)

A Global Atmospheric Research Programme THORPEX is a ten-year international research programme, under the auspices of the Commission of the Atmospheric Science, and its World Weather Research Programme (WWRP). The purpose of THORPEX is to accelerate improvements in short-range (up to 3 days), medium-range (3 to 7 days) and extended-range (week-two) weather predictions and the social value of advanced forecast products. THORPEX would examine global-to-regional influences on the predictability of high-impact weather and establish the potential to produce significant statistically-verifiable improvements in forecasts of those time scales (Project in progress)(Atmospheric Science)

GeoScience

2D and 3D Deformation Field over Bishkek Proving Ground Developed on the base of the GPS(Project proposed to start)(GeoScience)

The BPG covers the Kirgizian Tien Shan and adjacent areas. The Tien Shan, due to its modern geodynamic activity, is a natural geological laboratory and the scientific community can observe not only static pattern but also temporal changes here. The data is so large that combined analysis of the whole set demands new geoinformatic technologies and different approaches. (Project proposed to start) (GeoScience)

Development of a Scientific Infrastructure for the International Research Center – Geodynamic Proving Ground in the Bishkek City (IRC-GPG) (Project in progress)(GeoScience)

The project covers a support of the International Research Center – Geodynamic Proving Ground in Bishkek (IGRC) activities, including the development of the IGRC scientific infrastructure and creation of the Multiuser Geoscience Facility System (MGFS) under IGRC.

Discrete VS.Continious Continental Deformation and the Role of the Lower Crust in the Tien Shan (Project in progress)(GeoScience)

The principal objective of the project is to collect observations that will allow us to address some key questions on the role of the lower crust in intraplate shortening, and in the larger picture of discrete vs. continuous deformation.

Exploitation of the Kyrgyz seismic network by International Research (Project in progress)(GeoScience)

The basic purpose of the project is to prolong operation of KNET on the present high level of quality and data availability (not less than 95 %), keeping up of existing pattern of service of the network and data transfer.

Measurement of surface deformation in the Northern Tien Shan with InSar and GPS (Project in progress)(GeoScience)

Applicants proposed to investigate ground deformation in the North Tien Shan Mountains of Central Asia using a combination of interferometric synthetic aperture radar (INSAR) and Global Positioning System (GPS) data. The goals are to measure a range of deformation including continuous tectonic crustal deformation, episodic events associated with earthquakes, and ongoing slope failure events.

KOREA: International Thermonuclear Experemental Reactor (ITER)

KOREA: International Thermonuclear Experemental Reactor (ITER) Korean effort is being lead by KNFP (Korean National Fusion Program) which is hosted by KBSI (Korea Basic Science Institute).

RUSSIA: International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER)(Projects in progress)(ITER)

RUSSIA: International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) is a joint international project, involving countries, conducting extensive research on controlled thermonuclear fusion. (Projects in progress)(ITER)

High Energy Physics (HEP)

Description of High Energy Physics Applications in Russia(Projects in progress)(High Energy Physics)

High Energy Physics (HEP) has long-term history if speak about international scientific cooperation of Russia with USA, Europe and Japan. In 90’s, when an international collaboration has became to be major format for research in this field, Russian HEP laboratories contributed in (practically) all experiments (see Table below, where incomplete list of international collaborations is indicated for major Russia institutions) (Projects in progress)(High Energy Physics)

Medical Science

International Medical Information System (IMIS,DIMOL)(Project in progress)(Medical Science)

The largest clinics of USA, Russia and Japan are extremely interested in creation of a general medical information media to unite their information resources, medical experience, diagnosing hard and software. Within the frames of IMIS it is possible to carry out medical consultations, analysis of the most complicated situations, exchange with statistical data regarding the procedure and results of the most important and complicated procedures and operations. (Project in progress)(Medical Science)

Project on NEUROSURGERY (Project in progress)(Medical Science)

The purpose of the present project is the creation of INTERNET/GRID resources and technologies for the allocated virtual designing, fast prototyping and telemedicine. Virtual designing and fast prototyping apply in various areas of industry (aviation, mechanical engineering, automobile) and in medicine. We suppose as the basic direction of this project the elaboration of GRID technology for bio-medical applications: the creation of bio-models for surgery and planning of the operations in videoconferences-regime. (Project in progress)(Medical Science)
