Climate Issues. The region from Russian to China encompasses enormous topography. The topographical variations give rise to enormous extremes of weather, resulting in floods (China especially), fires (Russia and Central Asia), dust storms (Aral Sea, Mongolia, China) and many other weather disasters. NASA’s MODIS and SeaWiFS imagery could help all these disastrous weather impacts on people and infrastructure, as could watershed modeling with current weather superimposed on it for GIS-imaging-decision systems to assist government leaders in fusing complex data available from the west but of extreme interest to the people who live in the area where the data sets are imaging. Seeing daily satellite images of floods in China would help the people and decision makers of China far more than simply being on NASA web sites.
