Project: NSF Middleware Initiative GRIDS Center

Description: NMI funds the GRIDS center to design, develop, deploy and support a national middleware infrastructure for science and engineering. The GRIDS Center Software Suite, which has major releases twice-yearly through NMI, contains leading Grid software such as the Globus Toolkit, Condor-G, Network Weather Service, and more tools that are carefully selected for their ability to work in a complementary way for maximum benefit. Though the suite is packaged for easy installation as a unit, users may also pick and choose individual components and multiple configurations. Supported platforms as of NMI-R3.1 are Red Hat 7.2, 7.3, 8 and 9, Solaris 8, and SuSE Linux Enterprise Server. The GRIDS distribution is central to large-scale deployments such as TeraGrid, NEESgrid, GriPhyN and others, which are building their own custom applications on top of NMI middleware.
