The map above shows current traffic flows and traffic patterns across GLORIAD - as measured in Chicago.  In the map, triangles show source of traffic; inverted trianges, destination. Sites connected by arcs are the heavist current consumers. Colors indicate network protocols and can be discovered by the listing of top users at the right. The small charts show traffic volume by application during the last two hours. Clicking on any of them takes you to a larger display.

Project: Oracle

Description: Oracle provides substantial Globus Toolkit-based technology to help customers capitalize on the Grid. Its flagship database, Oracle 10G, possesses key differentiating technologies -- Oracle Real Application Clusters, Oracle Streams, and Oracle Transportable Tablespaces -- useful in building grids. Oracle 10G delivers operational requirements -- portability, RAS, security, and scalability -- necessary for the Grid. The Oracle Globus Development Kit (OGDK) simplifies use of Oracle technology with the Globus Toolkit. OGDK includes the Globus Toolkit itself, plus additional Oracle components to deliver an integrated product that is ready to use. Oracle 10G sets the style for computing that incorporates diverse data elementsÑincluding everything from e-mail to mobile devices and enterprise applicationsÑthat are distributed across a grid of interconnected servers. Grid components include integrated messaging, heightened scalability and speed, and self-storage management capabilities. At the virtual center of this universe is the database, enabling organizations to share the unused processing power of computers and databases over the Internet. In addition, it will enable users to push, pull and transact information from a grid, using it to alert people, form messages, engage in workflow or crunch algorithms. To that end, the database includes elements that make it easier to deploy across grids, such as improved XML handling, enhanced Web services APIs and 8-exabyte file support.
