Bulashova, Natalia Anatolievna
Natalia is co-developer and Co-Principal Investigator of the US GLORIAD program funded by the US National Science Foundation. She has worked for six years on the NSF and Russian Ministry of Science funded NaukaNet program (with total NSF funding of $9.5M (from 1998 - 2009). NaukaNet established the primary high performance Internet network between the US and Russian S&E communities.Natalia was the co-developer of the NaukaNet project and the executive director of the Friends & Partners Foundation (Moscow, Russia), the organization that was one of the participants of the NaukaNet project in Russia. Natalia worked on building an effective Russian and USA consortium of science and networking organizations. Later, the results of the NaukaNet project had been used as the base, when developing of the GLORIAD project.
During the NaukaNet project, with PI Greg Cole, Natalia has designed and implemented a traffic monitoring and utilization database and software system (http://www.gloriad.org/madasd/) that provides information on uses of the network.
She has served as PI or Co-PI on many other joint US-Russian programs – including PI on nearly $700,000 of Ford Foundation funding establishing the US-Russian Civic Networking Program (now operating in six Russian cities). Natalia has also co-directed other US-Russian activities funded by such sponsors as NATO, US State Department, Eurasia Foundation, International Science Foundation, Sun Microsystems and others. Natalia has also developed one of the largest collections of Classical Russian literature on the Internet - available at: http://www.fplib.org/.
The US-Russia project that she and Greg started more than 13 years ago is known as Friends & Partners.
