GLORIAD US Team

The U.S. team, now based at the Center for International Networking Initiatives (CINI) and housed at the Institute for a Secure and Sustainable Environment of the University of Tennessee, has established a twelve-year track record of NSF grant/project management in the area of advanced international S&E network deployment, operation and community building. Consistently, the team has demonstrated an ability to work successfully in the unique U.S., Russian, Chinese and Korean environments - at both grassroots and senior levels - with government and academy officials, technical peers domestically and abroad, senior scientists, educators and students. Twelve years of “grassroots” community building and local infrastructure development has provided a broad experience on how to work across the myriad cultural, language and other barriers encountered in a project that connects a group of quite different cultures and literally rings the globe. The activity during the last 12 years is described in more detail on the history page.

Many of the U.S. Advisory Board members identified thus far are included in the material outlining letters of support - for the larger GLORIAD program. These represent a mix of scientists, educators, engineers, media specialists, corporate partners, leaders in advanced network deployment, performance monitoring, network security, grid/middleware development and other fields.

Two additional key partners for GLORIAD include Tata Communications and Cisco Systems, Inc. Tata Communications provides protected circuits across the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. With its global network footprint and extensive network research facilities, it is an important service provider and a strong research partner. The GLORIAD team has developed a strong relationship with Tata Communications and its management. GLORIAD is also developing a strong partnership with Cisco, which is providing $75K of equipment for launching an IP telephony infrastructure as part of the collaboration infrastructure.
